2nd week in Los Angeles – starts in Irvine TONIGHT 12/4

This Friday, SEE the new film that NY audiences scrambled to witness!  Begins its one-week run at Edwards University Town Center 6 in Irvine and continues at Laemmle’s Monica 4-Plex in Santa Monica for a second week.  The first film ever to connect the dots between colonialism, globalization and poverty and show that poverty is not an accident.

The British Film Institute, in association with Share The World’s Resources, will be screening the critically acclaimed film ‘The End of Poverty?” in London on Saturday 12th December 2009.

Panel discussion
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion and questions from the audience. The panelists will be:
Irene Khan – Secretary General of Amnesty International
Clare Short, MP – Former Secretary of State for Intl Development
John Hilary – Executive Director of War on Want
Philippe Diaz – The award-winning director of the film
Colin Prescod – Chair of the Institute of Race Relations

Special Benefit Preview Screening of The End of Poverty? for Office of the Americas

The Office of the Americas and Cinema Libre Studio are proud to present a special preview/benefit screening of THE END OF POVERTY? after premiering in New York to sold out audiences and before its Los Angeles theatrical run. This eye-opening documentary is a powerful analysis on why global poverty still exists and how our current economic system, since colonization, favors the wealthy and exploits the poor.

The film, narrated by Martin Sheen, has been accepted to over 25 international festivals and has received much critical acclaim.

With the current economic system, will we ever see ‘The End of Poverty?’

LOS ANGELES (November 2009) – In February, the World Bank issued a stunning report: the spreading global economic crisis is set to trap up to 53 million more people in poverty in developing countries bringing the total of those living on less than $2 a day to over 1.5 billion. This dynamic, where the rich are bailed out – or financed – by the poor is the focal point of a new documentary film which will premiere Friday, November 13 in New York City at the Village East Cinema, followed by a nationwide platform release.
